Verba Dei

The extraordinary homily that Benedict XVI dedicated to the synod on the family, remained unknown for ten years

And further evidence of Benedict XVI’s impeded See.

Let us extend warm thanks to a seasoned Vatican observer for this new evidence regarding the "impeded see" of Benedict XVI. While a meeting on the family is taking place at the Vatican—intended to glorify Bergoglio’s apostolic exhortation *Amoris Laetitia*, which opened the way to Communion for the divorced and remarried—Vaticanist Sandro Magister has published the "extraordinary homily" that the "Pope Emeritus" (that is to say, the true Pope) delivered at his *Mater Ecclesiae* hermitage on the very day the 2015 Synod on the Family opened. This major document, which could have inspired the work of the "Synod Fathers," never reached them. A mystery of the Vatican postal service? Let us recall Canon 412, which provides the legal definition of an impeded see: "The episcopal see is said to be impeded when, by reason of captivity, banishment (...), the diocesan Bishop is totally unable to exercise his pastoral office in the diocese, such that he cannot communicate even by letter with his diocesans." On October 14, 2015, Benedict XVI—Bishop of Rome—delivered a homily clearly intended for the cardinals gathered in Rome, yet it never reached them. Did someone say "impeded see"?

The true reasons for the schism. A Prophetic Speech by Ratzinger in 1988.

Settimo Cielo has not published anything as yet on the case, covered widely by the world media, of the schism and excommunication that have hit the Priestly Society of Saint Pius X, founded in 1970 by Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre, because of the ordination on July 1 of four bishops without the pope’s authorization. A similar schism, with the relative excommunication, had already struck the Society on June 30, 1988, then too on account of the ordination of four bishops without papal mandate. And a few days later, on July 13 of that year, the then prefect of the congregation for the doctrine of the faith, Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, who was visiting Chile, gave a speech in Spanish to the Chilean bishops in Santiago, analyzing the “deeper causes” of the rupture.
