Bishop Mutsaerts: Why is ‘liturgical diversity’ good except for Latin Mass?

A Catholic can attend the Divine Liturgy according to several traditions. But as soon as a Catholic wishes to attend a Latin Mass, suddenly liturgical diversity becomes a problem.

The Catholic Church prides itself on its universality, cherishes an impressive diversity of liturgical traditions, and regards that diversity as an expression of its richness. A Catholic can attend the Divine Liturgy according to the Byzantine tradition, the Maronite tradition, the Armenian tradition, or the Chaldean tradition. No one considers this a threat to ecclesial unity in and of itself. But as soon as a Catholic wishes to attend Mass as it has been celebrated for centuries in Rome, Paris, Amsterdam, and virtually the entire Latin Church, some ecclesiastical authorities in Rome begin to express concern.

Burke’s Conclave Dinner and the Price of Catholic Cowardice

Conservative cardinals reportedly helped elect Prevost. A year later, Rome turns away traditional pilgrims.

In this article by Chris Jackson—a piece that is simultaneously well-informed and completely wide of the mark—we find confirmation of a shocking development: the outcome of the 2025 conclave was allegedly settled over a dinner hosted by Cardinal Burke. It should be recalled that Burke is arguably one of the (true) cardinals most conversant with the Magna Quaestio. Instead of defending the rights of the Apostolic See—as Universi Dominici Gregis mandates him to do—he has chosen to trade them away in exchange for liturgical concessions. The munus in exchange for Latin! 'Conservatives' are sorely misguided to place their trust in such traitors, who, by this very act, incur latae sententiae excommunication (UDG, no. 81).

Catholicism’s Surrender to Maoism

Beijing Chooses Communist Bishops. Rome Says Yes.

Beijing has chosen a new Catholic bishop who promoted Communist ideology, participated in Maoist political “re-education,” and dismissed reports of persecution against Catholics in his own diocese. Rome approved him anyway. The consecration of Paul Liu Honggang, argues Gaetano Masciullo, is a shocking example of what the Sino-Vatican agreement has produced: The Communist regime chooses, and Rome goes along with it.

Neither at Easter, nor at Pentecost, nor on the Assumption: the Roman Canon disappears from the great solemnities of Leo XIV

The dishes are spotless, everything is in its place, is nothing missing? In reality, behind this meticulously crafted staging, Robert Prevost is discreetly erasing, without anyone batting an eye (except here), what remains of the traditional liturgy, forever bound to the sacrificial character of the Sacrament of the Eucharist. It is precisely this that must disappear so that the synodal Mass may become a simple commemoration of the Last Supper.

The Decline of the Petrine Ministry?

Bishop Marian Eleganti : "I believe that recent popes have lost authority and spiritual capital. Their personalities take center stage."
