Bergoglio Week. His gifts to the Argentine church: the case of the Archbishop of Buenos Aires
One of the most painful legacies of Pope Francis's pontificate were the bishops he left to the Church and, in the case of Argentina, his compulsion to select them from priests lacking the minimum and indispensable qualities. And I say compulsion because Francis appointed 67 bishops in Argentina throughout his pontificate, at a rate of nearly 6 per year. Pope Leo has appointed only 1 in the first year of his ministry.
