Our contemporary society is marked by one characteristic that sets it apart from any other historical epoch and that is leading it, “with great strides” (Lucia of Fatima), towards the threshold of its “own self-destruction” (Joseph Ratzinger).

And this characteristic – as already said, “self-destructive” – has its own term that defines it: profanation.

Yet let no one think that this term bears an exclusively sacral meaning; rather, it refers to all that, being human, nonetheless possesses value, nobility, truth…

Profanation is therefore exercised in manifold spheres and on several levels:

– there is the profanation of human life, which has managed to penetrate – and this is true, alas, quite literally – into the wombs of women, by means of scalpel and chemistry, in order to kill innocent lives that are in the process of forming, utterly defenceless, and which goes by the name of voluntary abortion;

– there is the profanation, again of human life, which has managed to insinuate itself into the beds of the elderly, after a life spent in work and service, yet now regarded as worn-out instruments of no social usefulness, and indeed perceived as an economic burden, and which goes by the name of euthanasia, or else “assisted suicide”;

– there is the profanation, once more of human life, which has managed to enter into hospitals, into operating theatres, to harvest the organs of persons still alive, but of whom an instrument testifies to their “no longer being able to think”, calling it “flat”, and which goes by the name of organ predation.

I understand that these are hard things to read – as indeed they are to write! – besides being horrible, and yet, this is the (sad) reality of the facts, of what is happening today, truly…

– next there is the profanation exercised in the replacement of human intelligence, free and creative, with that other so-called artificial intelligence; while robots, ever more invasive and prolific, dare to “steal” work from humans, who need that work not so much in order to earn, as rather to fulfil themselves… in a word, here profanation goes by the name of transhumanism;

– profanation, moreover, has still other names: sex education, for children and youngsters, so as to violate their innocence; liberalised drugs, to clip the wings, the dreams and the desires of life's youth; vandalism, physical and/or verbal, both in the places of memory and in the very midst of the discourse of the elderly, of adults, of the young, and here it goes by the name of: freedom of expression.

What, then, can effectively counter profanation?

Its antithesis! Of which, indeed, profanation itself is but a parody, inverted and operating in the contrary sense, and that is Adoration: with Adoration, in fact, I bend my knees (“with the knees of the mind bowed”, as Petrarch would say) before the One who alone is worthy, in whose Presence it is most profitable to genuflect…

Needless to say, today many individuals kneel, on the contrary, before the powerful of this world, as we see done by: journalists, politicians, magistrates, doctors, bureaucrats and so forth, while remaining, instead, proudly standing before the Truth – indeed, decidedly opposing it…

Adoration of the true God (the Christian God, specifically the Catholic one) is today the sole and true antidote to the “non serviam” (I will not serve, I will not obey, I will not kneel, precisely) of luciferian memory.

Eucharistic Adoration is therefore truly that “secret” capable of transforming the world: only such Adoration, in fact, is able to vanquish profanation, to drain it of its life, to drive it back into the abyss of death from which it has emerged in these “last times”, in order – God permitting – to purify the true adorers in the crucible, and thus to distinguish them from the false adorers of vain and insubstantial idols…

Mors e Vita duello conflixere mirando

(Death and Life confronted one another in a stupendous duel)

Such is the apocalyptic challenge, from which one of the two must necessarily emerge victorious: Life cannot die, while Death… is already dead in itself!

P.S. A book has just been published, “I Veri Adoratori” (here), containing previously unpublished meditations, which will be a source of inspiration and of renewed spiritual rebirths, an antidote to the prevailing nihilism, dedicated to true men and women and, in a word, to the apostles of the last times.
